Mechanisms and Evolution of Geoeffective Large-Scale Plasma Jets in the Magnetosheath

Geoeffective magnetosheath plasma jets (those that interact with the magnetopause) are an important area of research and technology, since they affect “space-weather” around Earth. We identified such large-scale a duration >30 s using magnetic data acquired from Time History Events Macroscale Interactions during Substorms (THEMIS) multi-spacecraft experiment years 2007 to 2009. present statistical survey 554 geoeffective elaborate on four mechanisms for generation these as upstream solar wind structures tangential discontinuities (TDs), rotational (RDs), quasi-radial interplanetary field (rIMF) collapsing foreshock (CFS) interrupting rIMF intervals. found 69% generated due interaction between (TD: 24%, RD: 25%, CFS: 20%) bow shock. Slow weak contributed 31% jets. The CFS were be similar in their characteristics. TDs RDs most fast powerful jets, large spatial scales, which might attributed transient effects travelling foreshock.
